Swollen gums or face, a pimple on the gum, or a bad taste that won't go away.

Injuries from sports, falls, or accidents. Time matters, so call right away.

What to expect
What happens when you call.
Emergency visits focus on the immediate problem: finding the cause, relieving pain, and protecting the tooth.
01
Call or text us.
Tell us what's going on. We'll ask a few questions to understand how urgent it is.
02
We find you a time.
We reserve time for emergencies. Many patients are seen the same day, and most within 24 hours.
03
Diagnose and relieve pain.
We examine the tooth, take the X-rays we need, and explain what we find and your options.
04
Treat or plan next steps.
When possible, we treat the problem at the same visit. If more is needed, you leave comfortable with a clear plan.
Same-day emergency dental treatment
Depending on what we find, treatment we can often provide at the same visit includes:
- Relief of tooth pain and infection
- Starting or completing root canal treatment
- Repairing chipped or broken teeth with bonding or fillings
- Re-cementing or temporarily replacing a lost crown
- Temporary crowns to protect a cracked tooth
- Evaluating injuries to teeth and gums
Until you get here
- Rinse gently with warm salt water and use cold compresses on the outside of your cheek for swelling.
- Over-the-counter pain relievers you normally tolerate can help. Follow the label directions.
- Save any broken pieces of tooth or a lost crown and bring them with you.
- For a knocked-out adult tooth: hold it by the crown, not the root. Rinse it briefly and keep it in milk or inside your cheek, then call us right away.
Go to the emergency room or call 911 for swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, a suspected broken jaw, or bleeding that won't stop.
